Community Regularization & Development Programme

The ‘Community Regularization & Development Programme’ was implemented due to the historical development of informal communities around the various sugar estates across the island. These informal communities lack the necessary facilities and structures characteristic of properly planned communities. A number of these communities were identified and will be the subject of developmental works under this programme. These communities are presently occupied, mostly by current or past employees of the sugar estate, their relatives or descendants. The goal of the SCJ Holdings Limited is to regularize the occupation of qualified occupants and to uplift and transform these communities.
